Stowe Swimmer captures New England swim title

Stowe swimmers competed in the New England Regional Championships Feb 12-14 at The Upper Valley Aquatic Center, with impressive results.

There were 23 clubs representing teams from 3 New England States; Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

15 Stowe Swimmers represented The Swimming Hole’s Stowe Swimmers Swim club.

The Swimmers brought their “A” game, setting Lifetime Bests in 29 events.  They also placed in the Top Ten in 29 Events, Top Five in 9 events, which include a Third place Finish, a Second Place finish, and a 2016 New England Regional Champion was crowned.

Heidi Brynn led the way achieving Lifetime Best performances in 7 of her 9 events!   She finished third in the 200 Backstroke, 2^nd in the 1000 Freestyle and was crowned the 2016 New England Regional Champion in the 50 Freestyle.

Michael Mallen  placed in the Top Ten in three events, 8^th if the 100 Backstroke, 7^th in the 50 Freestyle, and 4^th in the 100 Butterfly.

Thomas Cooney also put down 4 Bests out of his 6 events.  He placed 15^th in the 50 Backstroke, 11^th in the 50 Butterfly by lopping off an astonishing 13.10 seconds.  He also placed 11^th in the 100 IM, and 9^th in the 100 Backstroke.

Ainsley Dall added another 3 Bests to the Swimmers’ total, placing 18^th in the 25 Butterfly, 9^th in the 50 Freestyle, and 7^th in the 25 Backstroke.

Declan Cooney achieved Bests in two events at the Regional Meet in the 25 Backstroke and the 25 Freestyle.

Carter Friedrich achieved two Lifetime Bests and placed in Top Ten in all three of his events!  He placed 10^th in the 50 backstroke while achieving a Lifetime Best, 5^th in the 50 Freestyle, and 4^th in the 50 Breaststroke setting a Lifetime Best.

Oliver Branch set a Lifetime Best in the 50 Backstroke and placed 16^th by shaving off 4.01 seconds.

Izzy Choularton qualified for one event, the 50 Backstroke, and smashed her time by 6.40 seconds, and placing 7^th.

Natalie Doehla also qualified for one event, the 100 Butterfly.  She achieved her Lifetime Best and placed 8^th overall.

Yvain Hoekstra added to the Swimmer’s best total, by achieving his best time and placing 8th in the 100 backstroke.  He also placed 6^th in the 100 Breaststroke, and 5^th in the 200 IM.

Emaline Ouellette achieved a best time by .48 seconds in the 50 Backstroke.  And Andrew Tisdell achieved his Best in the 50 Breaststroke by .73 seconds, and placing 11^th overall.

Tess Day achieved her Best in the 50 Freestyle by shaving off .82 seconds.  She also place 9^th in the 100 Freestyle, 8^th in the 25 Butterfly, and 7^th in the 100 IM.

Owen Branch placed 8^th in the 25 Butterfly, and Tanis Hoekstra placed 11^th in the highly contested girls’ 13-14 200 Backstroke.
