Angie, can you tell us about the energy zones and how you lead riders to get the most out of a ” training session” on Thursday’s here at The Swimming Hole?
Thursday’s 8:30 AM SPINNING® rides could be considered as “training sessions.” We alternate between two Energy Zones: Endurance one week, followed by Aerobic and Anaerobic Intervals the next week. Heart rate monitors are encouraged, but are not mandatory. When working in the Endurance Energy Zone, riders are asked to maintain a heart rate between 65% and 75% of their maximum heart rate (MHR). These rides are challenging, as the riders are also asked to remain seated for the duration of the class. During our Interval rides, participants get to experience all of the 9 movements within the SPINNING® program. The riders also get to work at high heart rate intensities, followed by lower intensities (or “recovery”). This training improves one’s Recovery Heart Rate, which in the end, helps to determine how fit the individual is, or is becoming.
Come join us, and see how you can turn a “workout” into a “training session.”
