Swim- The 500 meter swim will take place in our 25 meter, 8 lane Olympic style, swimming pool. Heats will be organized heats according seed times. We will have heat sheets posted on the side of the building and a heat organizer to assist competitors with their heat and lane numbers. Each competitor will be given a time card by the heat organizer before your swim takes place. Take your time card to your assigned lane. Hand your card to the timer assigned to your lane. Swim ten laps. The timers will have a last lap card to let you know when to kick it in. Once you are finished, dry off. Meet with your timer. They will write swim time on your arm for the beginning on the bike race.
Rules: No Wetsuits. Only fabric swimwear is allowed, competition swim suits may not go below the knee.
Bike- The transition from the swim to bike is not a traditional transition. Since not all swimmers can start at the same time, we are using a pursuit format to help with timing. This means, once you are done swimming, do not begin your bike leg. All Swimmers must finish their swims. This means if you swam in the first heat. You will have half an hour or maybe more before you start the bike If you are in the last heat you may have ten minutes, before you begin your bike. Once all swimmers are finished and out of the pool, a 5 minute window will begin. At the end of the this five minute window, we will begin the Main Race Clock, located at the center circle. Bikers will be staged according to their swim times. Swimmers that swam in the 6 minute or faster will line up first. Seven minute will line up behind them, 8,9,10 and so on. Once the Main Race clock counts up to the swim time you achieved, you may begin the Bike leg!
Remember: There is a new bike course this year. Know your course!
Run- The transition from bike to run is a traditional transition. You ride into the dismount zone. You must dismount from your bike, before entering the bike staging area. Rack your bike, change your shoes. Head out on the run! Finish the race.
Rules: No cutting corners
Awards- Stick around after you are finished for some great awards from Burton, Tyr, and AJ’s Ski shop. The categories are: Fastest Male and Female Swimmer, Male and Female Overall, And then the male and female winner of each age group will be receiving a prize! Top Team finisher will also receive a Prize.
Sports Massage: We will have a complimentary six minute sports massage by Rosie Manning certified massage Therapist available to all participants. First come first served.
